boudoir q & a
Below are some commonly asked questions about boudoir sessions. For any questions not covered please click here.
Nanette handles the boudoir sessions herself. Often she’ll have a female assistant.
I definitely recommend it for a couple reasons. Firstly, it’s so much fun! Working with a pro will only add to your modeling confidence. Secondly, doing a long-lashed sultry eye look is pretty different than what you wear on an average day. A professional will know what photographs well. I’m happy to make recommendations.
All of my shoots take place on location in Southwest Florida. This can mean your home or a friend’s home, a hotel room, the beach, poolside, or a pretty garden setting. At this time I do not offer a studio. Please keep in mind that I shoot with natural light, so if we’re indoors a bright, window-lit location is preferable. Travel fees apply to areas outside of Southwest Florida.
The average shoot takes two to three hours. This is on top of prep time for hair and makeup.
Of course! Bringing a a sister, mom, or a girlfriend is a great idea. She can help with outfit selections, makeup touch-ups, and be there for moral support. I actually recommend that you bring someone along.
You’re in for a treat. We’ll go through your outfit choices, chat about what you want from the session, pick a few scenes within our shooting location, and play some good music. Most women use three to four outfits. I’ll have you start by wearing something more covered, like a dress or a robe. I’ll make sure that the lighting and poses are always flattering and that you’re comfortable with the process. It’s basically a few hours of girl talk! With some chocolate and champagne of course.
In addition to your chosen outfits, a robe is nice to have around. Accessories can really make a look: jewelry, shoes, stockings, a hat, etc. It never hurts to have options. Bring some lip gloss and hair spray for touch-ups. Also bring a pair of scissors to cut out clothing tags.
Most of our boudoir photos go through some retouching. Minimal requests (such as removing a small blemish in a few photos) are done at no cost. Additional requests, such as removing clothing tags in many photos, require an additional cost.
We understand and appreciate that this is often a very personal photo shoot. Your images will never be publicly posted without your written permission. As much as we love sharing beautiful photos we will never pressure you to do so. Your private image gallery on our proofing site will be password protected for your viewing.
We offer beautifully presented albums, photographic prints, mounted and boxed prints, and canvas prints. The labs that we use are professional and prints that we handle will always look better than a print done at a drugstore.
Absolutely. The disk of digital files and the rights to the photos can be purchased for $450. See our boudoir pricing page here.
Booking a session with a friend is a great plan. You’ll both laugh your way through the shoot with the benefit of splitting any location cost. I’ll also take $100 off the session cost for each of you!
You will have your images within two to four weeks of your session date. I’ll email you a link to your photos in your own private online gallery, which is password protected. If you’ve purchased the digital files I’ll mail you a disk at this point. It will take additional time to order prints and albums.
Try to schedule your shoot at least two to three months before you need the finished product. This allows time for you to review your images and to order beautiful finished pieces such as an album. Please make sure to provide me with a safe email and mailing address so as not to ruin any surprises!
Boudoir shoots start at $495 and include your session, professional hair and makeup, retouching, and a couple of prints. Some locations (such as a hotel room) require an added charge. Most clients also choose to add an album or the digital files. Visit our pricing page here and feel free to contact us with questions. Please keep in mind that our packages are customizable.
